Alpha FNP Series

The FNP high power precision shunt resistor series from Alpha Electronics offers a range of very high precision current sensing shunts with a maximum power rating of 500W on a suitable heat sink at +25°C. By utilising a Ni-Cr Bulk Metal® foil resistor technology, they are able to produce resistors with low temperature coefficients. The FNP shunt resistor series has a built in Pt100 sensor for monitoring the temperature of the resistive element.

  • High power precision shunt resistor
  • Available in any resistance between 0.001Ω and 1Ω (higher values may be available upon request)
  • Tight tolerance options as low as ±0.05% available
  • Tight TCR options available of ±1 ppm/°C and ±2.5 ppm/°C (+25°C to +60°C) or ±5 ppm/°C (-25°C to +125°C)

The Alpha Electronics FNP precision shunt resistor series are constructed out of the following materials:

  • Base plate - Nickel-plated Copper
  • Current terminals - Nickel-plated Copper (T = 1.0mm)
  • Voltage and Pt terminals - Nickel-plated Copper (T = 0.5mm)
  • Package - PPS injection-moulded case

Alpha's Ni-Cr Bulk Metal® foil resistor technology means these high power precision shunt resistors resistors are ideal in applications like:

Alpha PSB Series

The PSB ultra-precision power shunt resistor series from Alpha Electronics offers 4-terminal (Kelvin) connections for current sensing and a power rating of up to 40W on a heat sink or 12W in free air (at +25°C) all with a low ohmic resistance range from 0.001Ω to 1Ω. By utilising Alpha's Bulk Metal® foil resistor technology, they are able to offer excellent temperature characteristics with low temperature coefficients down to ±5 ppm/°C between the resistance range 0.005Ω and 1Ω.

The PSB ultra-precision shunt resistor series exhibits excellent temperature characteristics thanks to Alpha's Bulk Metal® foil resistor technology, making them suitable for the most demanding precision and high power applications.

The 4-terminal connections of this high power shunt series offers accurate current sensing capabilities even in low extremity of resistance.

The PSB series has been designed for easy mounting to heat sink or water-cooled radiator as well as with threaded holes to fix cables with screws (Caution: please screw current terminals >5N·m and voltage terminals >1N·m)

Their 4-terminal design and high precision make them ideal for current sensing in precise power supply or motor driver applications.

Isabellenhütte BAC Series

The BAC precision resistor series from Isabellenhütte includes a PCB with connector for voltage sensing, designed for battery management systems or welding equipment with a low resistance value of 50µΩ or 100µΩ. The BAC series from Isabellenhütte is available with untinned or Ni-plated terminals, continuous load up to 550A (50µΩ) within a chip size of 8420.

Isabellenhütte BKW Series

The BKW 4-terminal precision resistor series from Isabellenhütte, designed for energy meters with resistance values from 0.0003Ω to 0.0005Ω. The BKW series from Isabellenhütte has extremely good long-term stability, thus the energy meters do not require any recalibration, very high reproducibility of R-value and TCR.

RARA FRH 25C Series

The FRH 25C metal clad thick film resistor series from RARA offers a power rating of up to 15W on a heat sink and 5W in free air with available resistance values between 1kΩ and 2MΩ (non-inductive design). These high power resistors are available with tolerances of ±1%, ±2%, ±5% and ±10.0%. The FRH 25C series from RARA has a cement moulding within an aluminium housing, which mounts on to a chassis to utilise the heat sink effect, all with a temperature range from -15°C up to +105°C.

These high power resistors are available with tolerances of ±1%, ±2%, ±5% and ±10.0%. The IRB120 metal clad wire wound economy resistor series from RARA offers a power rating of up to 120W with available resistance values between 0.1Ω and 1.3kΩ (inductive design) or between 0.1Ω and 300Ω (non-inductive design). These high power resistors are available with tolerances of ±2.0%, ±3.0%, ±5.0% and ±10.0% other options available including inductive or non-inductive resistive windings.
